2022 FRC Season – Rapid React
Rapid React is the game for the 2022 FIRST Robotics Competition. The game is played by two alliances of three teams each. Their robots compete on a field by scoring balls which represent cargo into the central hub. The hub has two different scoring levels with the lower hub being 3 feet 5 inches off the ground and the upper hub being 8 feet 8 inches off the ground. Located on either side of the field are two hangars these hangars have four different rungs for the robot to climb onto. There is the low, middle, high, and traversal rung. The teams earn ranking points for climbing onto the traversal rung. The goal for each alliance is to work together to score as much cargo before going to the hangar at the end of the match. Robot Abilities
This year, we decided to use pneumatic wheels for extra grip. To intake cargo, Bucky had a pneumatically deployable arm that spun compliant wheels. The cargo would then go into the uptake, and then the shooter, which shot the cargo into the lower or upper hubs. Bucky also had to climbing arms for climbing onto the lower and middle rungs.
